Firefox from command line not opening url in already running firefox on Mac OS X [duplicate] Ask Question. Up vote 1 down vote favorite. Possible Duplicate. 'A copy of Firefox is already open. Setting up a reminder in outlook for mac. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time.' I am expecting it to open the url in new tab in the already running version of Firefox. Firefox will not start because of missing libraries. If you installed Firefox outside of your package manager, make sure that your system has the libraries listed in the system requirements.

And, just to be clear: by whitespace I mean 'my file.html', 'my folder'. The bug probably also occur when your folder/file names have non-latin characters.

Secondly, open the utility, 'Activity Monitor' and click on 'all processes'. Do you see firefox running? If it is, click on it, and then click on the 'Quit Process' button. If Firefox isn't actually running, the first thing I might try is to remove the file, 'org.mozilla.firefox.plist' which is located in your Username/library/preferences folder. Just throw it away, and then try to restart firefox. The file you tossed should be re-created.

Ian Brown Says: Hi JJ, Follow steps 1 – 7 to find it. It’s just called bookmarks.html. Basically you just want to click on your HOME folder (on the left in Finder), and then you want to navigate to the following path: LIBRARY>APPLICATION SUPPORT>FIREFOX>PROFILES>XXXXXXXXX.DEFAULT (the XXXXXXX’s before “.DEFAULT” will be a string of numbers and letters; each default folder for each profile will be different) In that folder you’ll find the bookmarks.html file.

I am going to try downloading a totally new version and installing that. Do you have any other suggestions? The version number of what I use (on the profile where it works) is 2.0.0.1. Jetreader, My version of FireFox is 2.0.0.3. I guess I'd try to run a 'repair permissions' unless you've already tried that.

Anyway, I haven't used all the extra stuff. I still go into the Run line to start the Windows calculator even though there's a button for it right on my keyboard.:) Damaeus Ron Hunter 20/3/2010, 0:51 น. It's just webkinz that doesn't work. I've also cleared my catche, cookies all of that. The only thing I haven't done is uninstall & reinstall it all. Feb 8, 2009 Has anyone else noticed that Safari is painfully slow the last few weeks? Mostly the problems are with gmail and facebook, but all sites are slower than Firefox.

Firefox launches twice for me if I use the 'Web/Home' button on my computer keyboard, one of those special buttons that can be programmed to launch programs. I have it set to launch Firefox once, but it launches twice. I always just assumed it was my keyboard software sending the launch signal twice.

No error message If you click the Firefox icon but no Firefox window opens and no error message is shown, a simple first step is to restart your computer and then try again. If Firefox still does not start, see the following sections.
